Communications and Special Projects Internship

Responsibilities include:

Newsletter production

  • Researching topics for possible newsletter articles
  • Composing newsletter articles based on collectively obtained research.

Digital Media Managing

  • Occasionally assisting developing of social media posts.
  • Composing drafts of email invites, announcements, press releases, etc. to elected women.
  • Assisting with database management for the foundation.
    • Updating contacts following each NFWL event.

Research and Recording

  • Researching and obtaining media contact lists (topic based, state by state, national) through sponsors, state directors, and other research.
  • Taking notes at Board Meetings/General Membership
  • Meetings and coordinating with the communications manager and Executive Director to draft and approve the final minutes.

NFWL/NRA Scholarship Program

  • Assisting with the development of the topic and application proposal for the NFWL/NRA Scholarship Program
    • Researching possible Bill of Rights topics
    • Working with Communications Director on marketing and execution plan
  • Helping with the logistics and travel plans of winners to attend the annual conference

Management and Administration

  • Assisting the Executive Director with tasks as needed (filing, mailing, phone calls to sponsors, etc)
  • Providing assistance with all things Annual Conference (database updates, logistics, women of excellence awards, etc)
  • Maintaining up-to-date contact information in foundation databases

Emails and Communication

  • Drafting emails, Tracking invitations and RSVPs for events and meetings
  • Drafting press releases, information packets, and website content
  • Calling the offices of elected women on various occasions when requested

Membership and Programs Internship

Responsibilities include:

Membership

  • Researching newly elected women immediately following elections
  • Collaborating with the Communications team to encourage NFWL members to participate and attend NFWL programs

Programming

  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of the Annual Office Depot Backpack Program
    • Processing sign-ups
    • Gathering reports from the elected women participants
    • Compiling a comprehensive report to submit to the Office Depot Foundation

Event Planning

  • Assisting the Director of Membership by handling logistics for scheduled events and board meetings
  • Aiding in preparation for the Annual Conference
    • Processing and managing registration applications & the travel scholarship requests
    • Keeping accurate record of details for travel and lodging plans of elected women attendees

Database Management

  • Maintaining up-to-date contact information in foundation databases

Annual ODF Backpack Program

  • Assisting with the outreach and sign-ups of elected women to participate
  • Managing the program database
  • Building the backpack report (pics, press releases, etc) from each event to submit to the Office Depot Foundation

Emails and Communication

  • Drafting emails to elected women regarding meetings and NFWL programs
  • Tracking invitations and RSVPs for events and meetings
  • Drafting press releases, information packets, and website content that pertain to programming
  • Calling the offices of elected women on various occasions when requested by the Director of Membership
