(ALEXANDRIA, VA) – South Carolina Representative Mandy Powers Norrell has been selected to serve in leadership for the nation’s oldest organization addressing the needs of elected women at all levels of government.

Norrell was recently appointed to serve as the 2016 South Carolina State Director for the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL).

“NFWL has been a wonderful resource for me as I have learned from many other female legislators and have shared ideas about legislation that has benefitted families throughout our nation. I am excited and honored to take on this role with such a great organization,” said Norrell.

Elected women from across the country will gather in Orlando, Florida from November 16-20, for NFWL’s 2016 Annual Conference to identify effective solutions to some of the nation’s most timely and pressing issues. Providing a non-partisan environment that encourages dialogue and the sharing of information and experiences, women leaders are able to build coalitions, share the concerns of their constituents, and identify out-of-the-box solutions to the most pressing issues facing their communities today.

“We are so proud Representative Norrell has accepted a leadership position in our Foundation,” stated Delaware State Representative Helene Keeley, NFWL’s 2016 Chair. “She will play a key role in aiding women legislators in South Carolina state lines, as we grow as an organization.”

Norrell begins serving in her new position immediately, and will hold this office through the 2016 year.
