NICHOLS, S.C. (WPDE) — The Nichols Library got one step closer to reopening.
Katrina’s Kids founder state Senator Katrina Shealy presented a Walmart community grant for $1,000 to the Marion County Library System Tuesday.
The grant is to help refurbish the children’s section of the Nichols Library. The library has been closed since Hurricane Matthew.
Officials with the library say the money will go towards buying kid friendly furniture and painting the children’s area.
“We’re trying to help them come back and we know this not only will help foster children but it will help all the children in Nichols. You know if you’ve looked around in here they’ve got so many things they wanna do and we heard they could use this,” Senator Shealy said.
The library is expected to be back open in early 2018.
