Workers in the United States accumulate the vast majority of their retirement savings through employer-based plans, but large gaps in coverage exist. Pew’s Who’s In, Who’s Out data visualization shows how employer-based retirement plan access and participation vary among states, regions, and metropolitan areas by characteristics such as employer size and industry as well as employee gender, age, race and ethnicity, education, and wage and salary.
