Why is it important to address this issue in your community?
It is important to address this issue in our communities because girls should not be staying home from school because they don’t have feminine hygiene products. A lot of people do not know that this is a problem facing our young girls and women. They do not know that girls are staying home from school and wearing rags, socks, paper towels, etc because they cannot afford pads. We need to make sure that every adult knows that this is a problem facing girls in our communities.
What are you doing as an elected official to support policy measures that impact period product access?
I have introduced two pieces of legislation and are working with other to make feminine hygiene products tax free in Georgia.
