Why is it important to address this issue in your community?

In Nebraska, 1 in 8 women and girls between the ages of 12 and 44 live below the Federal Poverty Line. Programs like Omaha Girls Rock create equitable access to music and the arts. They don’t turn campers away that aren’t able to pay. They’ve identified a need for menstrual products for their campers and families, and we want to meet their needs. By providing Access Period’s three-month kits to campers and families to take home over the summer months, we will be creating more worry-free days where they are able to work, learn, and ROCK!

What are you doing as an elected official to support policy measures that impact period product access?

In 2022 I was instrumental in passing LB984, which exempts period products from state sales tax, and requires detention facilities to provide feminine hygiene products to female prisoners free of charge.
