State Rep. Kathy Bernier (R-Lake Hallie) will be serve on the Speaker’s Task Force on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos created the task force along with two other bipartisan task forces to issue recommendations for law changes in the coming months. Those other groups will look at urban education and youth workforce readiness.
The Republican-led committees will begin their work this summer with the goal of completing it by the end of next year.
Vos’s office says the Alzheimer’s task force will look at ways to reduce the cost of long-term care, as well as promote community-based resources.
“I look forward to working with other appointees for ways the state can help raise awareness of the effect Alzheimer’s and Dementia has not only on the individual suffering, but on those caring for them,” Bernier said.
