Webinar-Obesity: Addressing a National Crisis
Obesity is a complicated disease, affecting roughly 40% of adults. It is estimated that at least 30% of an individual’s annual healthcare costs is spent on treating obesity-related conditions. During Obesity Care Week, NFWL is taking a moment to look at how elected women can support initiatives to address obesity, improve the lives of their constituents, and look out for their states’ healthcare budgets.

As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves in the U.S. and around the world, the private and public sectors are joining forces to find solutions to address this global public health crisis. Healthcare Ready, a nonprofit established in 2006 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina by PhRMA, other industry associations, and the American Red Cross, has joined forces with these partners again during COVID-19 to facilitate the distribution of financial support and in-kind donations of personal protective equipment, medicines and critical medical supplies to communities in need, including communities of color and those with marginalized populations.

2017 Backpack Program
Each year, NFWL partners with the Office Depot Foundation (ODF) to provide backpacks to elected women across the country, so they may donate these backpacks to school children in their communities. These events take place throughout August and September.

This year, SLLF partners with the National Institute for Civil Discourse (NICD) and the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) to bring you Leading with Civility: Seeking Solutions to Polarization and Incivility in State Legislatures.
