Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point, was recently elected to serve as chair-elect on the board of directors for the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), the nation’s oldest organization addressing the needs of elected women at all levels of government.
“It’s such an honor to be elected Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors by such a distinguished group of women,” said Ruud in a news release. “NFWL provides a great opportunity for women legislators from all over the country to meet and discuss not only the issues they’re facing but the solutions for those issues. I’m excited to continue to be part of this great organization,” concluded Ruud.
Ruud was elected by her peers at the 2015 NFWL Annual Conference in Oklahoma City, Okla., where over 100 elected women met to identify effective solutions to some of the nation’s most timely and pressing issues. Providing a non-partisan environment that encourages dialogue and the sharing of information and experiences, women leaders are able to build coalitions, share the concerns of their constituents, and identify out-of-the-box solutions to the most pressing issues facing their communities today.
“We are so proud of Senator Ruud and all she has accomplished,” stated Senator Diane Allen, NFWL’s current Chair, in a news release. “We are looking forward to her leadership in the Foundation and I know she will help us make next year one of the most exciting years NFWL has seen.”
Ruud begins serving in her new position on Jan. 1, 2016. She will automatically elevate to chair of the organization in 2017. The Foundation will host its 2016 Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 15-19, 2016.
